Bellydance Class Descriptions Beginner I **No previous bellydance experience is required.** Beginner II / Intermediate This class is for students with an understand of Willow's bellydance technique and footwork patterns. A few months or more of Beginner I bellydance classes are required before entering this class. Even if you have studied with other bellydance instructors, you will need to take a series of Beginner I classes before entering Beginner II. Classes will incorporate dance specific warm-up and stretches, strengthening excercises, bellydance technique drills and dance movement vocabulary along with weekly dance combinations using the movements covered that week. Bellydance classes will help develop core body awareness while building strength and stamina, and toning and strengthening the different muscle groups of the body. You will learn to isolate your glutes, hips, abs, pelvis, ribcage, shoulders, head and arms while dancing to hypnotic and rhythmic Middle Eastern music. Bellydance will raise your heart rate, so be prepared to sweat a little. This class is low-impact and appropriate for women of all ages and fitness levels. Modifications for all skill levels can be made with awareness of student ability and level. Each student will receive personal attention and direction appropriate to their skill level. Finger cymbal technique will also be covered in this class as appropriate to student level. What to wear: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for a dance class, such as yoga or jazz pants, tank top, fitted t-shirt or sports bra - nothing constrictive around the hips or waist. Clothing that reveals the body line allows for easier correction of posture and technique. A sash or scarf can be worn around the hips for fun and to define the hips, but I respectfully request that you leave your beaded or coined scarves at home, as they are a noisy distraction that can break and leave pieces on the floor. Thank you! | |
